This is a temporary, full time position (Mon-Fri, 8-4 plus on call obligations which is shared equally amongst the other Internists).
This posting is for a locum position that is to be filled on an as need basis over the next 2 years. The durations of work will be for varying lengths of time (range from 1 week to 2+months). The hours will be full-time.

Business Address: Central Health, 50 Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, A2A 2E1 Location of employment: James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, 125 Trans Canada Highway, Gander, NL, A1V 1P7 Joined by a team of physicians, technologists, and nurses to provide the required services at one of the Authority’s referral centres, the successful physician will be expected to provide the full scope of Internal Medicine services which may include [but are not limited to] inpatient consultation, emergency and critical care on-call services, and outpatient clinics [inclusive of diabetes clinics and exercise stress testing]. The coverage of on-call commitments, including weekends and holidays, are shared appropriately amongst all Internists. The successful physician must work in a team-based, client-focused environment, and partner with all team members to improve employee and patient safety by integrating safe work practices, identifying risk and implementing improvements when required. A Nephrologist interested in General Internal Medicine work could avail of outpatient hemodialysis. A Gastroenterologist or General Internist with endoscopy training interested in general internal medicine work could avail of endoscopy time. Salaried locum rate is $1225 per day for 56 days, then $1057.78 per day or Fee-for-Service (as per the Memorandum of Agreement and Department of Health MCP Billing). Benefits: None
On-Call/After Hour Requirements
75 hours bi-weekly; plus on-call obligations
Eligible for registration and licensure as an Internist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
Satisfy the credentialing requirements of Central Health’s Discipline of Internal Medicine
Doctor of Medicine degree
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority
All travel, accommodations, locum licensing fee, meals and malpractice insurance will be paid for by the health authority.
This position is hospital based and is located at one of the two referral centres for Central Health. It is a 90 bed facility and provides services such as Anesthesia, General Surgery, Neurology, ObGyn, Opthamology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology and has a 24/7 ER facility. The staff are very helpful and supportive.
