The Village Medical Clinic is primarily an office-based practice, open 6 days a week with a part time chiropractor on site. It is located close to the hospital and local pharmacies.
On-Call/After Hour Requirements
There is no call associated with the clinic, but there may be some in-patient rounds. The locum is also able to do 12 hour on-call ER shifts at the hospital, if desired.
You must be registered with BC College of Physicians and Surgeons, and have legal protection with CMPA or similar. ACLS is useful, but not required.
$500 towards travel from the CIRD (based on budget). Customized activities and discounted accommodations can be arranged.
The Village Medical Clinic is primarily an office-based practice open 6 days a week with a part-time chiropractor on site. It is located close to the hospital and local pharmacies. Physicians have active hospital privileges and provide emergency coverage and in-patient care, which includes daily rounds as well as diagnostic and minor surgical procedures. Village physicians also provide care to patients at the long-term care facility. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 0800-1700 and Saturday 0900-1200. There are 7 clinic rooms which a capacity for 4 full-time GPs. The doctors at Village Medical Clinic have full-spectrum practices, including prenatal care to geriatrics. Procedures are scheduled during clinic and done in the on-site procedure room. Doctors see around 24 patients during a 7 hour day. If a patient belonging to the practice is admitted to the hospital, his or her family doctor performs rounds at a time which is convenient.
100 Mile House offers rustic charm, stunning lakes, plentiful outdoor activities, and a cornucopia of cowboy culture and history to soak up. 100 Mile House is a centre for outdoor activities and is becoming increasingly known for its excellent birdwatching. Fishing is extremely popular at any of the one hundred lakes surrounding the area. Known as the Nordic Skiing Capital of BC, 100 Mile House boasts over 150 km of groomed trails which convert to excellent mountain biking trails in the summer.
Today, this peaceful, rural community is the retail and service centre for the south Cariboo area. However, the only hustle and bustle to be heard might be call of the loons echoing off the nearby lakes, the occasional slap of a jumping fish or the rustle of a startled deer.
Clinic billings are divided according to a 75/25 split. If jobs are conducted outside of the office, there is a 90/10 split.
